Global GPU Market Report Q4 2025 Hardware Shipment Trends

The Jon Peddie Research Market Watch report published on March 3 2026 shows that the worldwide GPU market for PC graphics processors experienced a slight decline in sales during the last quarter of 2025. The total number of GPU shipments reached 756 million units which marks a 1.3% decrease from the previous quarter and a 3.3% decline compared to the same period of the previous year. The data center sector experienced strong growth because GPU shipments for that sector increased by 17% on average.

The final months of 2025 saw a notable shift in vendor dominance. AMD managed to capture more of the market whereas its main competitors experienced slight decreases in their total market share.

  • AMD The company increased its GPU market share by 2.6% overall. The company also saw an 11% increase in CPU shipments.
  • Intel The company lost 1.2% of its graphics processor market share which led to a 1.1% decline in its CPU sales volume.
  • Nvidia The company experienced a 1.4% drop in its GPU market share during the quarter. The company remains the only market player who predicts strong growth in early 2026 which will result from ongoing demand for AI specific hardware.

The PC CPU market grew by 2.7% when compared to the previous quarter despite GPUs experiencing a minor decline in sales. The number of units sold during the year decreased by 9.4% when compared to the previous year. The GPU attach rate which measures the distribution of integrated and discrete chips across all PC platforms fell to 116% which represents a decline of almost 4% from the third quarter.

The industry experts predict that GPU markets will achieve a 2.4% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between now and 2029. The total installed base of devices will reach 2 867 million units by the conclusion of this forecasting period. The period will see increasing demand for discrete graphics cards which are expected to reach 25% market penetration in the PC sector within the next five years.

The economic situation for 2026 remains uncertain because of ongoing geopolitical conflicts and adverse economic conditions. The market analysts have identified multiple challenges which will obstruct growth in the market.

  • Supply Constraints The memory module market faces two major problems which include high prices and low supply availability that create manufacturing cost challenges.
  • Geopolitical Instability The Middle East war outbreak and rapid changes in tariff regulations create global shipping and hardware price uncertainties.
  • Projected Decline The current forecasts indicate that the overall PC market will shrink by up to 10% throughout 2026.

The data shows that two different trends exist in the industry because consumer PC graphics volume has reached a standstill under economic pressure while enterprise and AI driven data center segments continue their strong growth.
