Technical Update Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 (February 2026)

Beginning on February 13 2026 Konami will release a series of major updates for all games included in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1. The patches bring improved resolution scaling together with new high resolution texture packs and additional control mapping options. The following section presents technical details about the changes made to each game title.

Metal Gear Solid (Ver. 3.0.0)

The update focuses on improving screen resolution together with introducing new options for controlling the game. Players can now choose between three resolution settings which include "Original" and "High Resolution" and "Maximum Resolution." PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch users can only access the High Resolution setting.

PC (Steam) Requirements for High Resolution

  • Processor Intel Core i5 12400
  • Memory 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (High) / GTX 1650 (Maximum)

Control and Functional Changes

  • Button Mapping The system now enables users to change both confirm and cancel button functions through an added option (the feature does not work on Nintendo Switch).
  • Keyboard Settings Steam users now obtain the ability to change their keyboard controls through the operation settings menu.
  • Bug Fixes Wireless audio muting problems for Nintendo Switch users have been fixed through this update.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty (Ver. 2.1.0)

The new version adds support for Nintendo Switch 2. The free update enables users to access "Original Mode" which presents classic graphics and "Fine Mode" that provides 1080p FHD visual display. Players can create custom configurations to control their internal resolution and upscaling techniques and movie output quality.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater (Ver. 3.0.0 / 3.0.1)

PC players and PS5 users and Xbox Series X|S players now have access to the "High Resolution Texture Pack" as an additional feature for their Snake Eater gameplay experience. The pack improves visual quality but requires a large amount of disk space to function properly.

Storage Requirements for Texture DLC

  • PlayStation 5 requires 22 GB of storage space.
  • Xbox Series X|S requires 65 GB of storage space.
  • Steam (PC) requires 70 GB of storage space.

Steam (PC) Environments for 4K Playback

To use High Resolution textures at 4K resolution on PC users must have these system requirements.

  • Processor Intel Core i7 10700
  • Memory 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
  • Storage SSD Mandatory

MGS 2 and MGS 3 now allow players to choose between two different resolution settings through their High Resolution Mode option . PlayStation 5 Pro and PC users can adjust internal rendering quality between WQHD (1440p) and 4K (2160p) depending on their environmental conditions. The Nintendo Switch 2 version now delivers smoother screen display performance than the original handheld device.

The original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake have been updated to Ver. 2.0.2 which focuses on stabilizing the game while fixing various minor defects. The Master Collection Bonus Content has also moved to Ver. 1.5.1 with various performance adjustments.
