Nacon Rig R5 Spear Max HD Modular Gaming Headset Features GrapheneQ Drivers and External R5 DAC to Deliver High Fidelity Spatial Audio for Competitive Shooters
Nacon has introduced the Rig R5 Spear Max HD as a gaming headset which was specifically designed to meet the needs of competitive shooter players. The device uses 40mm GrapheneQ drivers and an external R5 DAC to deliver high fidelity spatial audio which allows users to track enemies with high accuracy. The headset is currently available for $149.
The Rig R5 Spear Max HD driver membranes use "pure graphene" as their material. This material choice provides a unique structural advantage which combines high rigidity with low mass to create minimal acoustic distortion effects. In competitive environments this technology enables players to detect subtle audio cues such as footsteps or reloads with improved accuracy.
Technical Specifications and Driver Technology
- Frequency Range 20 Hz to 40 kHz
- Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) Less than 0.3%
- Driver Technology 40mm GrapheneQ
The R5 external DAC comes with the headset and it connects to devices through a USB Type C port. This unit enables high resolution 32 bit audio with a 384 kHz sampling rate on PCs and laptops. The DAC supports pass through charging for mobile devices and it includes Dolby Atmos 3D technology which operates on Windows 10 and 11 systems. The system delivers accurate three dimensional positioning which matches the high resolution output.
The Spear Max HD defines its identity through its modular design. Nacon has implemented a magnetic system which allows users to select their preferred physical arrangement of the headset. The microphone provides multiple options which include detaching to either side of the ear cups or complete removal which can be done to use a standard cable connection.
Future support for the modular platform includes plans for specialized components. Nacon plans to introduce ear pads which provide increased noise isolation together with microphones that stream specific audio. The $149 headset enables users to change its functions through modular parts instead of requiring complete hardware upgrades.
The Rig R5 Spear Max HD connects to PC and multiple mobile devices through its Type C DAC interface. Its market entry at $149 positions it as a specialized tool for enthusiasts focusing on audio clarity and physical customization in high stakes gaming scenarios.
