Nintendo Indie World 2026 Key Announcements for Switch 2 and Beyond
The first Indie World Showcase of 2026 from Nintendo dedicated its main focus to showing the Nintendo Switch 2 game collection. The presentation which lasted 18 minutes introduced multiple games for immediate release while establishing the complete launch schedule for the first half of the year. The event confirmed hardware specific launches for major indie titles while fans awaited DLC for Hollow Knight Silksong which remained unavailable.
The presentation introduced two major games which became available for instant purchasing after the show.
- Blue Prince This atmospheric mystery title served as the show's closing reveal and is now live on the Switch 2 eShop.
- Rotwood Klei Entertainment developed this co op brawler which has now moved out of Early Access. The game launched today on Switch 2 together with its complete 1.0 version for PC.
The showcase confirmed exact release dates for various indie games that will be available on multiple platforms between April and July.
- Outbound The open world exploration game will release on April 23 2026 for PC and PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
- Mixtape The narrative adventure game from Annapurna Interactive will launch on May 7 2026 for PC and PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2.
- Denshattack The railway themed game will release on June 17 2026 for PS5 and Xbox and Switch 2 and PC.
- Ratatan The game which serves as a spiritual successor to Patapon will release on all major consoles including Switch 2 after it leaves PC Early Access on July 16 2026.
Nintendo presented two key projects which they currently build for their Switch 2 platform outside of the summer period.
The Midnight Walk: The game will launch on March 26 2026 for Switch 2 with its unique style.
Blighted: The team at Drinkbox Studios who created Guacamelee and Nobody Saves the World announced their new project. The game which is named Blighted will launch in Fall 2026 exclusively for Switch 2.
Developers designed most showcase titles to use improved features of Nintendo Switch 2 while multiple titles still work on the original Switch. Developers maintain their focus on cross platform launches which include PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S during this hardware transition year.
