Panline First Person Parkour Spiritual Successor To Mirrors Edge Announced By Viridian Matters Studios Features Procedural Delivery Systems And Post Scarcity Urban Exploration
Following the 2025 success of Ikarus Parkour, Viridian Matters Studios has announced its next project, Panline. Positioned as a spiritual successor to the dormant Mirror’s Edge franchise, the game aims to fill the niche left by DICE after the series was sidelined. Panline shifts the focus to a utopian metropolitan setting where information control is the primary currency.
The game operates in the City which represents a society that has achieved post scarcity status because its citizens no longer face resource limitations. The system uses data distribution to maintain its control over power. Players take control of Runners who act as skilled couriers to traverse the cityscape while they perform their information delivery tasks. The social structure of the city enables rooftop couriers to control the key power positions which dominate the urban area.
The game uses Panline to create smooth character movement while players develop their strategic approaches to gameplay. The gameplay system includes these main elements:
- The game creates delivery orders using procedural generation which results in unique delivery paths throughout the city.
- Players can develop their equipment and discover fresh parkour skills at their home base through the progression system.
- Players need to obtain a specific pass before they can stroll through the nighttime city streets which creates an extra challenge to their exploration of the game world.
- Players need to defend the Panlet device, which functions as their main navigation tool throughout their rapid movement.
Viridian Matters Studios established its first success in the game genre through Ikarus Parkour, which achieved a 75% approval rating on Steam for the previous year. The core mechanics of the game receive their first expansion through Panline, which creates an experience of extended gameplay for players to discover new mechanics.
The team plans to start Early Access for their game before 2026, but they have not confirmed the launch date for their complete game. The team will use player feedback to enhance the procedural generation system together with the parkour physics system during this development stage.
