GoPro Mission 1 Series Worldwide Launch Details Including 8K Video Performance Hardware Specs Battery Compatibility and Future Lens Systems
GoPro has decided to launch Mission 1 Series worldwide because the market competition has become more intense. GoPro has executed an abbreviated launch timeline for its latest flagship action cameras. The company launched Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro products earlier than anticipated because they had previously announced that the equipment would stay hidden until National Association of Broadcasters Show 2026. The new hardware development represents a major escalation in the ongoing hardware conflict which GoPro is fighting against competitors who include DJI and Insta360.

| Mission 1/1 PRO |
The new product range features a large camera sensor which measures 1 inch and produces 50 MP native output. The Mission 1 series has obtained an optics improvement which enables it to record videos in 8K resolution at 60 frames per second. The internal GP3 processor drives performance for these models because it represents the first brand build which enables 4:3 Open Gate video recording. The core imaging architecture remains unchanged between both models but the Pro version uses more processing power because it enables 8K video playback at 30 frames per second in Open Gate mode while the base Mission 1 restricts playback to 4K video at 120 frames per second.
The current user base remains focused on two main aspects which include operational challenges and product compatibility. GoPro has ensured that the new hardware maintains full compatibility with the Enduro 2 battery packs which allows existing customers to keep using their power accessories without requiring immediate replacements. Customers can now place worldwide pre orders which will continue until official shipping commencing on or before May 28. The entry Mission 1 costs 599 dollars while the Pro model ascends to 699 dollars. Both packages include a free year of GoPro Premium subscription services.

The company has confirmed that ILS body will maintain the same price as Pro model which costs 699 dollars despite the major hardware changes. The specialized unit will not become operational until July through September when it will join the ecosystem. The company will launch this product to create a new market space which connects conventional action cameras with professional interchangeable lens photography systems.
