PlayStation Removes PC Platform Mentions From Subsidiary Websites Reflecting A Shift In Financial Strategy And Policy For Exclusive Software Titles
Sony is currently altering its corporate communication to eliminate any mention of developing software for personal computers. The company has reversed its previous plan to make exclusive titles available on other platforms according to recent changes which show all subsidiary domains have stopped showing any digital presence of those titles.
Industry observers flagged the quiet disappearance of these platform references across networks controlled by the gaming publisher. The official domain for Valkyrie Entertainment provides the clearest example of this sudden transition. The company used to publicly state its capability to create high quality software for multiple platforms which included personal computers. The newly updated text has completely scrubbed that claim. The studio now only emphasizes its work on proprietary software partnerships which include Astro Bot and Helldivers 2 and God of War.
The organization decided to end its project because it had not achieved its financial objectives. Jerry Liu, a former analyst and planner for the brand, recently provided context regarding the internal fiscal realities of the operation. The exclusive software sales through personal computers resulted in the company generating 300 million dollars during their three year period according to Liu.
The company generates enough revenue from its current console users to achieve 300 million dollars annually by selling them software according to Liu. Sony executives determined that external storefronts generated profits which did not warrant resource investment according to their analysis. The software publisher decided to protect its software library from the upcoming Steam Machine ecosystem which threatened its hardware market leadership by blocking all potential porting activities.
