ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 Global Launch Featuring 320W Total System Power With RTX 5090 Graphics And 240Hz 4K Mini LED Display Innovation

ASUS Republic of Gamers has just pushed the envelope with the launch of the 2026 ROG Strix SCAR 18 on a global stage. Announced Today the chassis design accommodates an 8 phase VRM capable of supporting 320 watts of sustained total system power a twenty five percent increase from previous iterations which traditionally supported up to 255 watts. The premier machine is outfitted with the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU which boasts a maximum 175 watt TGP. Allowing the CPU and GPU to be maxed out at the same time without a thermal issue ASUS ROG has developed a true desktop replacement with capabilities beyond 3D rendering AI development, and high end gaming.

Accommodating a thermal load of 320 watts necessitated a complete overhaul of the ROG Intelligent Cooling architecture. The 2026 Strix SCAR 18 is built with a vapor chamber that is 20 percent thicker than the previous generation, which boosts its thermal efficiency dramatically. It supports 0.1 millimeter thin copper fins, total surface area of 246,898 square millimeters. Airflow management was enhanced with a new fans design which drives 91 percent more air than its predecessor. In an effort to curb thermals within the chassis the laptop supports dedicated graphite and copper heatsinks on its PCIe 5.0 SSD which keeps its data transfer speeds blazing fast throughout intense workloads. Air is now pushed through the keyboard deck, reducing surface temps by 5 degrees Celsius.

Its display technologies showcase some of the most cutting edge panels yet implemented in a laptop. The 4K ROG Nebula HDR display of the Strix SCAR 18 comes with over 2000 separate dimming zones and its 1600 nit peak brightness enables incredible HDR, even in bright rooms. The screen is capable of DCI P3 coverage at one hundred percent and 4K resolution at 240 Hertz. Nebula Extreme Low Motion Blur technology adds a layer to its motion handling, with 8 different strobing zones reducing ghosting and lag during gaming, the screen also offers a 11000 ClearMR rating. AGLR (anti glare) technology reduces ambient light reflections by 55 percent, increasing contrast over regular anti glare displays by 4.5x.

Built for the power user, a tool less chassis allows access to 2 RAM slots, and 2 PCIe 5.0 storage drives on its bottom panel without a screw driver. The ROG Q Latch technology allows the SSD drives to be locked in and taken out by simply pushing on their edges. For the connected desktop replacement, it offers 2 Thunderbolt 5 Type C ports with full DisplayPort 2.1 and PD 3.1 support, as well as 2.5G LAN, HDMI 2.1 FRL, and Wi Fi 7. On the outside, the 360 degree Aura RGB light bar shines and a customizable AniMe Vision LED panel on the lid adds personality when enabled, it turns into a professional matte black look when completely off. Its 90 watt battery comes with a 450 watt power adapter to accommodate the needs of the silicon, at a constant full draw of 320 watts.
