It has basically the R6 Mark III in terms of components but no electronic viewfinder, in favor of an internal cooling fan. According to the press release document "By equipping the internal cooling fan, 7K RAW video up to 60fps is possible for more than 2 hours without thermal stopping."

The Canon EOS R6 V has a 32.5 megapixel sensor that is capable of doing Open Gate recording. This is where the entire surface of the sensor can be used, which is great for cropping in later to various social media formats. To help with that there is also a very impressive IBIS that combines with optically stabilized lenses to give up to 8.5 stops of compensation. The result is footage from a hand held camera that does not shake.

The Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology now recognizes people animals and vehicles which is good for almost all content creators. They also added a new "Product Demonstration Mode" for vloggers, which causes the autofocus to immediately jump from presenter to object that is shown in the camera, which is essential for product reviewers and online sellers. This camera also offers high speed cinema footage options including 4K at 120fps and 2K DCI at 180fps.

This vlogging camera still has professional video features including Canon Log 2 and Log 3, that provide over 15 stops of dynamic range. The menu interface offers built in exposure aids including waveform, zebras, and false color. For handheld operation, it still has a decent size grip, and a good variety of ports including an HDMI port, USB Type C, and dedicated inputs for both microphone and headphones. It uses two slots for SD card mediums, one of which also uses the faster CFexpress Type B format.

The EOS R6 V also uses standard Canon LP E6P batteries and can utilize many of the other accessories available for EOS R cameras. When it came to announcing lenses to pair with it, Canon also announced the RF 20 50mm f/4 L IS USM PZ, that offers a power zoom mode, useful for smooth focus transitions for video recording, and is built to their professional L series standard.

The Canon EOS R6 V is available for pre order now with the camera body costing 2,499 dollars, or for 3,699 dollars with the new RF 20 50mm power zoom lens. Both options are expected to ship shortly to certain markets in an attempt to capture more of the professional video creator market.
