Nintendo Implements Global Price Revisions for Switch 2 Consoles and Online Subscriptions Across International Markets and Traditional Physical Goods

Nintendo has issued an official corporate announcement a series of significant price adjustments for its hardware and digital services. The manufacturer cited changing market conditions and a shifting global business outlook as the primary drivers for the decision. The Switch 2 and original Switch family together with Nintendo Switch Online subscription tiers and physical playing card products will experience price changes according to the upcoming schedule.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will see its price increase from 49980 yen to 59980 yen according to the new pricing established for the Japanese market. The change will begin on 25 May 2026 as the official launch date. The price for the multi language system available through the My Nintendo Store will remain at its current level. The OLED model will increase to 47980 yen for Japan while the standard Nintendo Switch price will rise to 43980 yen. The portable Switch Lite will see the largest proportional jump moving from 21978 yen to 29980 yen.

International hardware price revisions will begin on 1 September 2026 for the United States and Canada and Europe. The Nintendo Switch 2 will see its price rise by 50 dollars as it moves from 449.99 dollars to 499.99 dollars. Canadian retail prices will shift from 629.99 dollars to 679.99 dollars. The My Nintendo Store will switch the console price from 469.99 euros to 499.99 euros for European customers. Nintendo indicated that similar adjustments will eventually be implemented in other global regions through its various subsidiaries.

Nintendo Switch Online pricing is being adjusted to ensure regional alignment across the unified global service. The new changes will begin operations in Japan starting from 1 July 2026. The 1 month membership will cost 400 yen while the 3 month membership will cost 1000 yen. The individual 12 month subscription fee will rise from 2400 yen to 3000 yen. The cost for 12 month family memberships will increase to 5800 yen. The 12 month individual plan for Expansion Pack tier users will increase to 5900 yen while the family plan will reach 9900 yen. Nintendo confirmed that price revisions will happen in the South Korean market on a scheduled basis.

Material costs for Nintendo products have risen and this situation requires the company to change its pricing structure for traditional playing cards and Hanafuda products in Japan starting from 25 May 2026. Standard playing cards and character themed decks featuring Mario or The Legend of Zelda will move to an open price model. Open pricing will be implemented for traditional products including Mario Hanafuda and Daitōryō cards. Nintendo stated that these increases are necessary to maintain the continued availability of its physical card catalog. The company apologized to stakeholders and customers for the financial impact of these revisions while requesting understanding of the current economic climate.
