NVIDIA and IREN Limited Strategic Partnership to Build Global AI Infrastructure Factories through 5 Gigawatt Deployment and Massive Cloud Service Agreements
NVIDIA and IREN Limited established a major strategic partnership to accelerate the global rollout of next generation artificial intelligence infrastructure. The official Globe Newswire announcement states that the two organizations will deploy up to 5 gigawatts of NVIDIA DSX hardware throughout IREN's data center operations. The agreement combines IREN's land and power management expertise with NVIDIA's advanced accelerated compute architecture to create AI factories for clients from startups to large enterprises.
The financial commitment through equity rights serves as the main funding element for the partnership. IREN has granted NVIDIA the option to purchase 30 million of its ordinary shares during the next 5 years. The exercise price is set at 70 dollars per share which allows for a potential investment of up to 2,100,000,000 dollars. This financial structure ties the two companies together for the long term as they build out foundational infrastructure for the global economy. The systems need total integration of their compute and networking components with power operations which IREN delivers at an extensive level according to NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang.
The 5 year AI cloud services contract which IREN secured has a value of approximately 3.4 billion dollars beyond the infrastructure partnership. IREN supplies NVIDIA with GPU cloud services under this agreement to manage their internal research and AI tasks. The service utilizes Blackwell platform systems that are air cooled and located at the Childress campus in Texas. The facility produces 60 megawatts of power which supports the agreement through its orchestration software that was created with Mirantis. The deal demonstrates IREN's capability to offer complete cloud management services according to IREN cofounder Daniel Roberts who commented on the achievement.
The upcoming infrastructure deployment will take place at the Sweetwater campus in Texas which has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts. The companies expect this location to serve as the flagship site for the NVIDIA DSX architecture. The partnership will combine land expertise with data center expertise to create a new method for distributing electronic processing resources throughout the world. The industry prepares to enter an era of widespread artificial intelligence through this major infrastructure construction of AI factories which will transform the AI production process. The two companies plan to implement their framework to meet the computational power requirements of enterprise clients who need to run advanced software solutions.
