Microsoft Announces October 7 Event with NVIDIA to Unveil RTX Spark and Surface Hardware

Microsoft will host a developer broadcast on October 7 at 10 AM Pacific Time focused on running local artificial intelligence models on personal computers. The presentation will feature Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella alongside NVIDIA chief executive Jensen Huang to introduce joint silicon developments. The event will detail the upcoming Surface Laptop Ultra.

The announcement arrived directly from the official windows account on X. Microsoft confirmed the online gathering will stream live from San Francisco for developers and software builders. Company leadership will lead the keynote, including Windows and Surface head Pavan Davuluri alongside Satya Nadella. Jensen Huang will join the stage to explain how NVIDIA silicon will integrate into upcoming Windows PCs to process heavy artificial intelligence workloads locally without relying on cloud servers.

The core technical reveal centers on RTX Spark, a unified computing platform designed for thin and light laptops and compact desktop computers. This superchip packages an NVIDIA Grace Arm CPU together with a Blackwell architecture RTX graphics unit on a single substrate. Both processors communicate across a high speed NVLink C2C interconnect. The system relies on a shared pool of LPDDR5X unified memory, giving the CPU and GPU direct access to the same memory addresses without data transfer delays.

Microsoft will use the broadcast to preview the Surface Laptop Ultra. Early hardware details indicate the machine will offer up to 128GB of unified memory and full CUDA support for professional development workflows. This memory capacity and bandwidth will allow the laptop to run large language models with up to 120 billion parameters entirely on local hardware. The machine represents an effort to create a portable workstation capable of running advanced artificial intelligence models offline.
