Samsung and Google Unveil Smart Eyewear Partnering With Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to Integrate Gemini AI and Real Time Translation Into Aesthetic Daily Frames
Samsung Electronics and Google unveiled a joint project for a smart eyewear set at Google I/O 2026. According to the unified official statement, the complementary hardware closes the distance between luxury style and the mobile AI. Two stylish pairs of devices developed with design partners Gentle Monster and Warby Parker are going to be available on the market to work as a hands free assistant for the users paired smartphone.
Samsung Electronics is bringing its hardware capabilities and technical know how to the table and the Android system is being provided by Google. The frames were designed by two different companies, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The former comes with an innovative yet daring style and the latter provides a classic, timeless look. Both of the frames are meant to be wearable on a daily basis, much like traditional glasses, but house sensors, mics and audio hardware that enables a voice interface and interaction without compromise to comfort.
The glasses interface directly to Geminis AI assistant with a simple voice command. Users can receive real time navigation advice, get tips and suggestions for restaurants in their vicinity, or even order take out food. They receive notification texts which are summarized, add events to their calendars, and can snap photos or manage tasks within the Galaxy ecosystem, all without the user needing to pull their phone out of their pockets.
Users can see translations appearing on the same screen as their environment. They appear seamlessly over physical texts that the smart glasses are designed to recognize. Real time audio translation is also supported, that allows the original speakers tone to be preserved while the translation is playing. In that way, users remain connected to their surroundings at all times while being informed and able to understand everything in their surroundings.
Samsung Mobile Experiences Executive VP Jay Kim described the smart glasses as being a
"natural extension to the Galaxy AI ecosystem."Shahram Izadi, Googles Vice President of Android XR mentioned the partnership is making
"access to a daily digital assistant feel more natural and available."Initial collections are expected to roll out to limited markets in the fall with more details being released in the upcoming months.
