Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro Camera Leak Suggests Uniform Hardware Across Flagships with Shared Main Sensors and New ALoP Telephoto Technology
A new leak from known industry leaker Ice Universe on Weibo suggests Samsung could have uniform camera hardware across its flagships. Rumors indicate the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro would carry the same main and ultra wide sensors as the higher tier Galaxy S27 Ultra, both with new sensor technology for debut on their respective phones.
Although the two would share the main and ultra wide angle sensors the telephoto capabilities would still be different. According to the leak, the Galaxy S27 Pro would not utilize the same zoom hardware as the Galaxy S27 Ultra, allowing for a distinction between flagship tiers.
For the Galaxy S27 Pro, the leaker expressed hope that a 3.5x optical zoom module utilizing a 50MP ALoP sensor would be included. The Advanced Lens on Sensor design is a recent development in camera module hardware development. This design arrangement is focused on minimizing physical space inside of the camera housing, placing lens elements directly on top of sensor elements. This would allow for shorter camera bump lengths while maximizing light gathering and image quality at moderately magnified levels.
If this rumor holds true then the choice to utilize identical main sensors would substantially decrease the overall image performance difference between the Galaxy S27 Pro and its Ultra counterpart for the primary shooting mode. Up until now the Ultra tier had a near monopoly on the very best Samsung sensors available, and if that changes, it means that for users looking for more portable flagship performance and top quality main sensor imaging, the Pro may have what it takes.
