Valve Restocks Steam Deck OLED Globally with Updated Higher Price Points for 512GB and 1TB Models Following Supply Chain Cost Increases
Valve has restocked the global inventory for its Steam Deck OLED and the portable console can now be ordered on its online store again. Its return to the storefront does come at a notable increase in price on both variants though, with Valve having increased prices following a rise in the cost of memory/storage and overall logistical factors that are currently impacting the global electronics supply chain.
The cheapest variant of the Steam Deck OLED with 512GB of internal storage will now see a price increase across the world in its largest retail regions. In the US, prices have been set to 789 dollars, in Canada 1129 Canadian dollars, the Euro prices have been increased to 779 Euro, and the price in the UK is now set to 649 pounds Sterling. 1199 Australian dollars, and 3279 Polish Zloty respectively complete the list of adjusted price points, including any local value added taxes.
The higher tier configuration of the Steam Deck OLED also sees proportionally higher price adjustments, with the US price of the model increasing to 949 dollars, followed by 1349 Canadian dollars, and 919 Euros. Similarly, the price of the model will also increase in the UK to 779 pounds Sterling, and in Australia to 1429 Australian dollars. The Polish price point for this model comes in at 3879 PLN.
Valve stated that the internal hardware configuration for the Steam Deck OLED has not changed and the physical handheld unit is exactly the same as the models that have been available in the past. The reason for the price increase is due to the cost of supply chains including the required speed of flash memory, and international shipping to global distribution hubs. Valve said that they would monitor the global supply chains in the future and update customers if prices changed.
