34BigThings Regains Complete Independence Following Buyout from Embracer Group

34BigThings Studio Transitions Into Full Independence Following Private Buyout From Embracer Group Led By Co Founder Valerio Di Donato

The gaming scene has yet again experienced a sharp turn after a surge of consolidation. Italian game development studio 34BigThings, popular for Redout and Carmageddon Rogue Shift, has managed to break free from the clutch of the Embracer Group conglomerate. The studio has transitioned into full independence with a private buyout led by one of its early founders.

Valerio Di Donato, a founding member of the studio, personally bought back the company to reestablish it as a privately owned entity. According to official statements released by the studio leadership, Di Donato characterized this transition as a 3rd birth for the collective. The studio originally formed in 2013 and was later acquired by the Embracer Group in 2020 during a period of rapid studio acquisitions by the Swedish conglomerate.

Across the span of 6 year, the development team worked closely with Saber Interactive, another major sub sub of the conglomerate. Saber Interactive won the right to leave the consortium in 2024 and set a precedent that the minds behind Rogue Shift inevitably inherited. With total creative freedom, the studio will make own project and resource management decisions under the guidance of Giuseppe Enrico Franchi.

The new self ruled company is working on its newest unannounced software at the moment. After its name hit the industry, the studio wants to direct its energies and ideas toward two other projects. The company has explained the whole planned production pipeline for the following years, with two titles scheduled for release in 2027 and 2028.
