AMD Alerts Windows 10 Users to Critical Radeon RX 7000 System Crashes in Software Update and Provides a Necessary Workaround
AMD has released an official alert about the new release of its graphics software after users experienced some significant system conflicts. The update aimed at enhancing the support for Windows 10 Operating System. Unfortunately, those using onWindows 10 encountered critical issues after its installation.
The installation of AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 was meant to enable AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4.1 support on Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards (GPU). Instead 2 separate system crashes happen. The first crash appears to warn of incompatibility of the current desktop software version with the just installed graphics driver. Secondly the Windows Device Manager prompts with a warning icon on the graphics card entry present under the display adapters menu indicating a driver failure.
The problem has been acknowledged by the company which produces the aforementioned hardware, and so they have directed engineers to fix the flawed code. Here is theadvisory issued by AMD concerning the problem
Windows 10 users of AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 may experience an issue affecting the operation of AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. Our engineers are currently investigating the issue and will release a fix as soon as it is ready. As a temporary workaround users can roll back to AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1.
The company has verified that there is nothing in the way of manual registry changes or software overrides which can override the launch block. This has proven to be the only solution until the pre rolled software image is distributed for those users who's equipment has been rendered unuseable; Remove the existing, and make use of the older stable release, 26.6.1. This will reinstate the users free flow in to the control panel, and eliminate the device manager error messages.
