Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms final software keynote as John Ternus prepares to take command on September 1st
Apple's June 8th Park HQ's final software keynote was a poignant corporate landmark. After unveiling fundamental software developments throughout his address the long term CEO Tim Cook delivered the formal closing statement and announcement of his last Worldwide Developers Conference keynote presentation. The official confirmation has fueled years of industry chatter over succession at the trillion dollar hardware maker.
Cook is scheduled to step down from his position as CEO of Apple on September 1st with current Hardware Engineering Chief John Ternus due to assume the top job. Ternus, who in the last few release cycles has slowly begun taking on a bigger part of hardware announcements, is slated to present Apple's iPhone fall launch event as the company's next CEO.
Closing the June 8th presentation, Cook took a moment to reflect on his time with the tech company thanking the global developer community for their contributions in joint innovation.
"It has been the honor of a lifetime to help advance Apple's mission... The best is still ahead at Apple."
In the wake of Cook's parting words developer betas for iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate and other related operating systems are available to profiles immediately, while public betas are scheduled to launch later next month.
