ASUS Launches RUC 2000H Rugged Edge AI System at COMPUTEX

ASUS RUC 2000H Modular Industrial System for High Throughput AI Video Analytics and Machine Vision Reliability in Rugged Environments

The ASUS RUC 2000H, announced at COMPUTEX, is designed to enable the high throughput demands of machine vision and intelligent video analytics in the harsh realities of the industrial environment. Part of the RUC 2000 line, the system leverages the power of the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 to achieve up to 180 AI TOPS for edge inference while helping to keep total cost of ownership down for the industrial operator.

Many of today’s embedded systems use nonstandard footprints that make it difficult to upgrade cabinet systems or scale configurations. The RUC 2000H solves these problems through a modular 2U half rack base unit design. Combining two base units allows operators to form a standard 19 inch rack system, designated as the RUC 2000G. For small environments that require smaller units, wall or desktop mounting is supported. The modular system also allows for ease of assembly on site and optimized thermal dissipation.

Connectivity was a key design pillar and the system features the necessary cameras and secure transport interfaces out of the box. Networking includes:

  • 1x 10GbE and 5x 2.5GbE ports for the highest possible edge bandwidth
  • 8x GMSL2 interfaces eliminate signal converters for multi camera support
  • Two hot swappable SSD trays for RAID 0/1 operation to protect data security
  • Single PCIe x16 slot for power hungry GPUs up to 200 watts operating at x8 bandwidth

The RUC 2000H is made for conditions such as high temperatures, dusty areas and the potential for significant vibration. The system uses a fanless design to prevent dust from entering and causing component failure, and wide DC power inputs to keep operating during power variations. The MIL STD 810H rated system has proven itself durable enough for continuous, 24/7 deployment in rugged, remote environments where failure is not an option.
