Bigme has officially revealed the Hibreak Dual 2 which is a futuristic device focused on combining the best of mobile computing with a pleasant reading experience. The officially released spec sheet from the manufacturer shows that this new device takes advantage of two diverse screens on opposite sides of the chassis. The device combines a typical LCD screen with a low consuming electronic paper screen for literary lovers as a means of reducing fatigue without sacrificing other smart device capabilities.
The distinctive form factor of the Hibreak Dual 2 is built upon an innovative dual screen 2 sided design. One side of the device features a traditional 5 inch LCD screen providing the user with the ability to run ordinary applications watch videos and browse the interface. On the other side the user can read full color and black and white electronic paper which offers clear visibility in all daylight conditions. Fast refresh times allow for quicker changes and a minimal amount of ghosting.
This is a dramatic departure from previous prototypes where the secondary screen used by past concepts was a minuscule corner of the device. The Hibreak Dual 2 features two large displays capable of handling everyday media consumption. Users can switch back and forth between colorful media on the main screen and E Ink e book reading on the secondary screen which saves battery life and reduces eye strain.
targeted at a specific display aspect ratio the internal hardware of the device has been designed to cope with modern applications. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 platform that offers a healthy reserve of processing power for multitasking. It comes equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of on board storage. The phone runs on the Android 16 platform with access to all standard applications.
The device also serves as a portable digital notepad supporting capacitive styluses with pressure sensitivity. This means you can write on the E Ink screen directly as if you were writing on paper. Bigme includes a note taking app which allows you to modify the thickness of the pen and write notes or annotate text with simple touches and taps. Connectivity is robust with dual 5G SIM card slots and expandable storage via an SD card slot.
Although the manufacturer has yet to determine the recommended retail price or set a shipping schedule a crowdfunding campaign will be conducted via Kickstarter to fund the first production batch of the Hibreak Dual 2.
