Dell Announces XPS 13 Laptop Availability With Intel Wildcat Lake Processor Display Features And Aluminum Chassis Construction
Dell announced that the new XPS 13 laptop which supports a new Intel Wildcat Lake processor architecture is officially available for purchase in retail channels. The laptop is a rival to the MacBook Neo and is now orderable in the channel with prices starting at $599.99 for verified students or $699.99 for the general consumer.
This laptop boasts a 13.4 inch touch sensitive display which offers variable refresh rates up to 120Hz with QHD plus resolution which is quite crisp and clear. This particular panel is rated at up to 500 nits bright allowing you to use it outside without issue. I really think that the touch panel gives it a leg up in this price segment compared to competitors which don't support touch.
Hardware wise the system has an Intel Core 5 320 processor inside which is a low power mid range option from the Wildcat Lake series. Up to 16GB of RAM can be equipped into this machine which does offer an improvement for multitasking over less configurable portables.
The chassis is made of CNC aluminum which is really nicely finished giving it an extremely rigid yet lightweight construction. This laptop weighs just 2.2lbs (0.99kg) with dimensions of 12.7mm thickness closed. It has a 52Whr battery that Dell claims offers up to 17hrs of continuous streaming on one charge.
This device offers quad speaker audio system for clear reproduction of sounds. Onboard storage is not mention. It has 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 type C ports which support Power Delivery and DisplayPort alternative mode and new Intel Wi Fi 7 support with Bluetooth 6.0. This article also mentions the first hands on review and video are appearing on the internet now that shipments have started.
