Framework Laptop 13 Pro Pricing Reductions with ADATA Gen 5 SSD Partnership and Future Processor Price Warnings
Framework has announced an unexpected pricing reduction for its upcoming Laptop 13 Pro due to a shift in its component supply chain. According to an official update from the hardware manufacturer the company has qualified a new solid state drive through a partnership with ADATA. The selected drive is the XPG MARS 970 which utilizes the PCIe Gen 5 interface to deliver improved performance and long term reliability at a lower production cost than the storage option originally planned for the system.
As the Laptop 13 Pro is still in pre shipping Framework is extending these cost savings to all prior reservations. Any customers who originally ordered the base Gen 5 configuration will be automatically upgraded to the ADATA drive and credited accordingly on any future invoices. Note that this hardware is available in 1TB and 2TB versions at lower prices than prior configurations.
Additionally the new ADATA drive on the new pricing model allows Framework to automatically take care of base tier automatic hardware upgrades. The new 1TB drive costs less than the original 500GB drive. Due to this Framework is upgrading all 500GB configurations to the 1TB drive for the new lower price rate. Framework will continue to offer the XPG MARS 970 as the standard storage solution for all new orders as current warehouse stock levels sustain.
While storage costs have declined Framework issued a warning regarding upcoming changes to overall system pricing. The company has received market indicators that central processing unit costs are expected to rise in the near future. This supply chain pressure will likely force Framework to increase the base price of the Laptop 13 Pro in the coming weeks for any new transactions. The manufacturer recommends that prospective buyers place their reservations immediately to lock in the current lower hardware rates noting that all pre orders remain fully refundable prior to the actual shipping date.
