The X870 AORUS Infinity is constructed differently than typical ATX boards for the purpose of being utilized as an open air test bench. The AM5 processor socket is flipped 90 degrees counter clockwise which allows the four PCIe 5 memory slots to be located on the top edge of the board when horizontally mounted. Another design feature is the top corner of the PCB which contains a dedicated control panel equipped with two separate ISA 80h diagnostic code displays and buttons to control and reset the system in real time.

The board is designed to support the high current draw caused by sub zero cooling runs through a significant power delivery system. Power is delivered through one standard 24 pin ATX connector two separate 8 pin EPS connectors and one auxiliary 8 pin PCIe power connector. The motherboard is manufactured with a 10 layer PCB to isolate all signals and features an 18 2 2 phase VRM with high quality tantalum capacitors and 110A DrMOS stages providing a stable power source to the CPU.

In order to preserve memory signal quality and achieve the highest DDR5 frequencies there are only two DIMM slots available on the board. Storage expansion is provided through two M.2 NVMe Gen 5 x4 ports routed directly to the CPU and one M.2 Gen 4 x4 slot via the X870 chipset. Two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots are ready for use supporting an x8 x8 configuration if both are occupied.

A wide variety of connections are available on the rear IO panel and internal headers. High speed wired connections include four USB4 ports with 40 Gbps bandwidth alongside one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type C port which delivers up to 65W of USB PD charging. Other ports include three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A ports four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A ports and two legacy PS2 ports for benchmarking purposes.

Networking features a Qualcomm QCNCM865 wireless module supporting Bluetooth 5.4 and WiFi 7 with a spacious 320 MHz channel width. Wired connections are provided by a Realtek RTL8126 CG 5 Gbps ethernet controller. An onboard Realtek ALC1220P high definition audio codec is responsible for the sound. Gigabyte has not yet announced an official price or retail launch date for this enthusiast motherboard.
