Meccha Chameleon Achieves 7 Million Sales in Under Two Weeks

Meccha Chameleon Surpasses Resident Evil Requiem With 7 Million Sales in 12 Days and Features Unique Hide and Seek Gameplay

An unexpected competitor has shaken up the commercial environment of video games, breaking the sales monopoly of Capcom and its top release Resident Evil Requiem. The independent titles creation team lemorion_1224 revealed that their viral release Meccha Chameleon already exceeded 7 million copies sold. The said record has been achieved after only 12 days from its digital launch, making this a never before seen commercial achievement for an independent work.

Business has continued at a fast pace though in terms of this game. Early statistics revealed the game had hit the 2 million mark in sales 5 days after its release, equating to another 5 million gamers purchasing the game over its following week. Whilst the retail figures soar, subscription for players is also soaring. Last week the game has seen a total of 340 534 active users playing at one given time, very healthy numbers, with the server keeping up.

Meccha Chameleon puts a mechanical spin on the traditional hide and seek formula. Rather than using physical cover behind ledges, boxes and other objects, players will need to alter their form to match the color and texture of nearby surroundings. This mechanic has been received quite well by PC gamers, earning the game a Very Positive user review rating on Steam.

The critical and commercial success of the game has garnered some interest due to the fact that the game was produced with very few resources. One of the developers commented that the game had only taken 2 months to develop – a short time frame even in this modern age of gaming where games can easily take 4+ years of development time to complete. Despite early adopters identifying some technical limitations and lack of polish in certain areas the game’s compelling game play pulled through.

The developers are already gearing up to make the most of this large player base. A new Japanese inspired map is in development to hopefully enhance existing player retention levels and increase the number of unique users. As with most successful games, the trailblazing sales and engagement figures are predicted to be broken soon with additional content.
