MINIX N304 AI Mini PC Launches With Intel Core 3 Processor 304 To Make Local Neural Processing More Accessible And Affordable
MINIX, a mini pc manufacturer has launched a small desktop PC intended to make processing AI locally much more accessible and affordable. MINIX N304 AI system uses Intels Wildcat Lake architecture which is making neural processing available on typical computer systems. MINIXs product specifications, released alongside the launch, have highlighted this shift to an AI model which has previously been limited to large, expensive workstations.
At the core of the device sits the Intel Core 3 Processor 304. Utilising Intels AI Boost engine, the hardware has the capability of delivering 15 TOPS worth of computational power using its on board Neural Processing Unit. Combined with the resources of both the central processing and graphics processors, the hardware is capable of up to 24 TOPS across its various processor units. This provides the means for locally generated software like generative tools, language translation tools and collaborative computing applications to be run locally.
Practical use of locally based machine learning tasks gives considerable benefits when compared to using a cloud service. With machine learning processing local to the physical machine, response times for all operations can be drastically reduced as data does not have to be transferred to and from external servers. User privacy and data security can also be improved significantly, and at the same time, operating costs can be reduced by removing recurring cloud hosting fees. This will put neural processing in the hands of educational institutions, small business organizations and freelance software developers alike who will need dependable and secure systems on which to operate.
Within the compact casing of the MINIX N304 AI are hardware capable of carrying a load suited to many professional tasks. Featuring 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, accompanied by 512GB NVMe storage drive, the Mini PC also has provision for the connection of three screens. Pre installed on the hardware is the Windows 11 Pro operating system. On board are dual Gigabit Ethernet, Wi Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 hardware and connections, the portable nature of the Mini PC suitable for home offices, digital signage and retail space applications, as well as edge computing requirements.
With built in neural hardware being implemented within affordable devices, it has removed AI from a luxury position to one that is part of everyday life for personal computer users. Designed to be energy efficient, the hardware will also be quiet, making it suitable for extended usage periods in constrained environments in which tower systems are either unsuitable or unobtainable.
