MSI Launches X68K Gaming Keyboard with Magnetic Switches and All Metal Chassis

MSI X68K Compact Gaming Keyboard Launches with 8000Hz Polling Rate and Magnetic Hall Effect Switches for Extreme Performance in China

The demand for fast input performance has grown, and the MSI X68K compact gaming keyboard is the newest to hit the market to accommodate. According to MSI's product specification details, which were distributed by MSI's official retail channel in China, the keyboard comes with an extremely compact 65% layout. On the inside, the keyboard has a wholly metal, aluminum construction, and is built for some extreme gaming. To ensure instantaneous input, it supports a wired connection with native 8000Hz polling rate.

The metal frame has a noticeable design with X shaped edges and onboard RGB lights. It makes use of horizontal gasket mount structure in order to get an optimized typing feel and sound. Within the keyboard PCB, it uses 6 layers of sound dampening materials to eliminate hollow sounds produced during the key's quick press and absorb the vibrated motion. Additionally, its PCB also supports hot swappable switch mounting, where a user is able to remove and install the switches without any solder work.

In terms of switches used, the keyboard makes use of MSI’s self developed X Stellar magnetic switches, powered by 3 rd generation Hall Effect sensors. Each individual switch boasts an extremely high lifecycle of 70,000,000 keystrokes. With these switches utilizing magnetic fields instead of metal contacts, it offers full software control over their activation and dead zones. You will be able to fine tune activation points as low as 0.01mm precision on official software.

These X Stellar magnetic switches require very light 35gf to activate, bottoming out with 50gf. Each key has a total travel of 3.3mm. Keycaps are designed to be made of transparent polycarbonate and come with silk screened key legends. This makes sure that as much light passes from the RGB LEDs as possible through them.

Currently, the MSI X68K is only available on the Chinese market at a price of 999 yuan, equivalent to around $148. You will also find a gaming bundle containing the X68K and an X7M gaming mouse, sold at 1349 yuan (around $199).
