Stalker 2 Cost of Hope Major Expansion Story Trailer Confirms Summer 2026 Release for Xbox PlayStation and PC Platforms
Stalker 2 Cost of Hope, the first major expansion for the first person shooter survival game by GSC Game World, has received an in depth story trailer for its Summer 2026 release. Cost of Hope will launch simultaneously across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC platforms on Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud; and has been confirmed by GSC Game World to support Xbox Play Anywhere.
Cost of Hope takes place parallel to the main game, sitting squarely between the chapters titled Wishful Thinking and Down Below. Players will once again reprise their role as Skif as the unsteady peace created by the D4 agreement falls apart. This political failure sends the Zone into an open ideological warfare between the factions Duty and Freedom. Cost of Hope offers an experience that is driven by moralistic player choice, with all decisions made throughout the more than 12 hours of content impacting alliances, plot developments and the ultimate conclusion of the game.
According to the latest released footage, Skif will team up with 2 additional companions that each hold their own personal agendas during his time navigating through the Zone. These companions, a Duty affiliated ally named Zulu and a Freedom affiliated ally named Mavka, are both shown with struggles of their own within the expansion Zulu is depicted being chased down by an unknown threat, while Mavka appears to be searching for something through the Zone. These companions will venture with Skif through a multitude of abandoned factories, dead forests and areas plagued with unnatural and unexplained occurrences.
This major expansion will include 2 new playable regions of the Zone, the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the Iron Forest, with both locations posing new environmental hazards, mutated enemies and hostile human factions. These 2 new locations will bring new anomalies including localized, reality warping gravity field anomalies that can hinder player movement and alter the way gunfights play out. Skif will also apparently be hunted in this portion of the Zone by a new mysterious masked character equipped with state of the art technology, as shown in the trailer, and players will acquire new weapons, armor upgrades and a new approach to narrative driven combat.
This new major expansion follows up on the already released base game Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl, a first person shooter survival game available for $59.99 on Xbox and PC platforms and as a Game Pass title. While the main game will be released later this winter season for the PlayStation 5, Cost of Hope has been announced to release sometime mid 2026 for all of the previously listed platforms and features all new weapons and armor for the non linear campaign.
