Todd Howard confirms Marvels Blade is still in development at Arkane Lyon debunking recent cancellation rumors and targeting a 2027 release date
In mid June whispers from the gaming community started to circulate that Microsoft had abandonned some of it's bigger projects due to merger and acquisition whirlwind. The biggest rumor that appeared on the industry was that Arkane Lyon was no longer developing the much awaited game Marvels Blade, but Bethesda Game Studios executive producer Todd Howard has spoken to vindicate the rumors.
As many have come to recognize him for his extraordinary leadership on blockbusters such as The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and Fallout 4, Howard disclosed that he just went through the game himself recently. His remarks verify that Arkane Lyon is indeed making good progress on the game, despite rumors on the internet of cancelation.
I cannot say when we will show the title next, but I saw something literally yesterday. The guys at Arkane have done a really great job.
This confirmation is consistent with the words of Arkane Lyon representatives who were extremely swift in dismissing some of the first rumors regarding the death of the game as well. This project was initially revealed to the public in december 2023, although the studio has been very tight lipped about both story and gameplay elements ever since then. All the same, the development continues, in its pre alpha phase, towards a target date in late 2027.
Though the original Xbox division has seen team reductions, Arkane Lyon still seems to be in the zone judging from internal feedback. The company's stellar track record for creating well polished action games is well established, with Marvels Blade being a massive title for the studio's portfolio. Bethesda's leadership staff are quick to proclaim that development is bouncing along on schedule.
