Treyarch Studio Head Mark Gordon Retires After 22 Years of Leadership

Treyarch Studios Head Mark Gordon Leaves Activision After Twenty Two Years As New Co Studio Heads Take Over Development

The head of Treyarch Studios, Mark Gordon, will be leaving the studio after an extremely successful career of 22 years under Activision. As reported in an official announcement made by the studio, Gordon will be stepping down from his position to concentrate on his new chapter of life. Gordon leaves at the end of an era for the Activision owned studio which he spent developing one of the world's biggest franchises: Call of Duty.

Gordon spent the best part of two decades at the helm of the Call of Duty studio. He became integral to the development of the popular shooter and elevated the studio into a cornerstone of the Call of Duty franchise, progressing from a sister studio to an integral development branch. During his time at Treyarch, Gordon also led the studio in developing historical titles such as Call of Duty 2 Big Red One and Call of Duty 3. From the development of Call of Duty World at War through the development of every installment of the now massive Black Ops series; there is little that Mark Gordon did not contribute to in a meaningful way.

The studio praised Mark for his "steady leadership over his extensive tenure at Treyarch." They thanked him greatly for his passion, hard work, and commitment, "as well as for his dedicated care for the workplace and for the teams that comprise this studio. Mark’s impact is immeasurable to staff and the millions of players who engage with the games he has helped build.”

In order to ease the transition, Treyarch announced two new co studio heads: Kevin Hendrickson and Yale Miller. Both men have been at Treyarch for over a decade and will be sharing the responsibility of leading Treyarch. Both of the men bring a "wealth of game knowledge" to the two new co studio head positions and will be guiding the development of all future projects to ensure Treyarch can continue to meet live service needs and develop the next installment in the blockbuster franchise.
