But the premium specifications come with a cost that cements the handheld market as a luxury playground.
Pricing for the Predator Atlas 8 ranges from £999.99 for the entry model to £1,499.99 for the top configuration. That translates roughly to a range between $1,300 and $2,000 for North American buyers. The base edition features the standard Arc G3 chip alongside 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Buyers can bump the memory up to 24GB for an extra £100. Stepping into the G3 Extreme tier costs £1,299.99 for 24GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. The absolute peak configuration with 32GB of memory demands the maximum £1,499.99 price tag.
This pricing trend reflects a broader shift in the portable PC space. Handhelds were once seen as an affordable entry point for PC gaming. Now, they are luxury items. The Asus ROG Ally X remains a popular recommendation at $1,000 simply because everything else is rapidly climbing beyond that mark.
The hardware specifications of the Predator Atlas 8 are top tier. The front of the unit houses an 8 inch display with a 1920 by 1200 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports Variable Refresh Rate and reaches up to 500 nits of brightness under a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. For physical controls, the chassis features hall effect analog triggers, full size analog sticks, and rear macro buttons. To keep the thermals in check during long sessions, Acer installed their AeroBlade active cooling system.
