Acrab has introduced GELIX 1, an edge silicon chip built to run massive AI models directly on local devices. The processor debuts alongside Agent Box, a compact desktop console designed to act as a private AI server for homes and offices. But the true appeal lies in its promise to eliminate recurring cloud subscription fees for smart software.
Running models with 100 billion parameters normally requires giant data centers. Acrab wants to shrink that footprint down to a chip built on a 5 nanometer process. The GELIX 1 silicon combines a 20 core Arm CPU with a multicore accelerator and 273 gigabytes per second of unified memory bandwidth. This combination targets the initial lag when a model processes long prompts.
In company benchmark tests, the chip achieved a prefill rate of 1416.8 tokens per second under a Gemma 26B configuration with a 40K cache. A standard Mac Mini M4 Pro managed 188.9 tokens per second under the same conditions. That represents a speed increase of 7.5 times. Local processing also means your personal data never leaves your desk.
Instead of running separate programs, the Agent Box is built to host independent AI entities. CEO Ken Phua stated that while earlier systems focused on finding answers, the next phase is about getting things done. The box acts as an orchestrator, breaking complex goals into steps and coordinating action across local devices. Users make a 1 time hardware purchase to avoid token anxiety entirely.
Acrab plans to scale this platform beyond its own desktop console. The company is actively working with hardware partners to place the GELIX 1 platform into next generation PCs, home servers, smart vehicles, and industrial robots. The objective is to build a horizontal foundation that reduces dependence on metered cloud systems across multiple industries.
