Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Shatters Ubisoft Sales Projections

The recently launched remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has completely shattered expectations for Ubisoft. According to the latest corporate financial report, the game sold 3.5 million copies in roughly 2 weeks of availability. This commercial performance has already exceeded the annual sales projections set by the publisher.

Player engagement metrics have set new records for the franchise on PC platforms. The game managed to hold steady at a peak of 105,000 simultaneous players on Steam, marking the best PC launch in the history of the series. Sales on PC grew dramatically, with the biggest performance boosts coming from players in the US and China. Critical reception is equally strong, making this remake the best reviewed entry in the series since the release of the original game back in 2013.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot addressed investors to confirm that this early success validates the recent restructuring efforts at the company. He praised the development teams and pointed to the massive player reception as a sign of positive change. Guillemot provided a direct statement on the matter during the investor call.

The strong launch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is encouraging proof of our new direction. It is the highest rated Assassin’s Creed since the original Black Flag, and we are thrilled with how warmly players welcomed it. In just weeks, the title exceeded our annual sales expectations. I want to warmly thank the teams whose talent and dedication brought this game to life.

This success highlights the ability of the company to update classic intellectual property for a new generation of hardware. Ubisoft intends to apply the same strategy to other classic brands in their catalog. The next project in this lineup is Rayman Legends Retold, which is scheduled to launch this autumn to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the franchise.
