HMD has expanded its mobile portfolio with the launch of the Arc 2, an ultra budget smartphone designed to provide essential cellular features at a very low price point. The company debuted the device during a regional launch event in Thailand, positioning it as an accessible option for buyers who require basic connectivity without the high cost of flagship hardware.
The HMD Arc 2 is built around a 6.52 inch IPS display that offers HD plus resolution and a standard 60 Hz refresh rate. Performance is driven by a Unisoc T603 processor, which works alongside 4 GB of random access memory. Users can choose between 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage, and the hardware supports expansion through a dedicated microSD card slot to accommodate larger media libraries.
For photography and video calls, the smartphone features a dual camera system on the rear panel, utilizing a 13 megapixel primary sensor. The front display houses a 5 megapixel camera designed for basic self portraits and video communication. A large 5000 mAh battery powers the device and supports 10W charging speeds, ensuring long operational runtimes between charges due to the energy efficient components.
To ensure stable performance on modest internal hardware, the HMD Arc 2 operates on Android 14 Go Edition. This lightweight operating system is optimized by Google to reduce memory usage and processor overhead. The physical chassis also retains a traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack, allowing users to connect wired audio accessories without needing adapters.
Retail pricing is highly competitive to appeal directly to budget conscious consumers. The base model featuring 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage is priced at 68 dollars. Users requiring additional space can purchase the 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage configuration for 89 dollars.
