Huawei Prepares Mate X9 and Mate XT2 Tri fold Devices with Kirin 9050 Processor and Silicon Anode Batteries for Second Half of 2026 Release
Huawei is about to launch the next batch of its flexible display portfolio with two new devices. Two hardware launches are currently in the pipeline for the second half of 2026. Details of the next range of devices were revealed by a well known industry leaker, Digital Chat Station. The next quarter of manufacturing includes a standard foldable device dubbed the Mate X9 and an innovative tri fold device called the Mate XT2.
Both new devices are likely to feature a similar high end photography setup. This consists of a main camera with a large 1/1.3 inch sensor, a periscope telephoto lens, and an ultrawide lens, capable of undertaking a multitude of photographic situations. To combat the high drain that large foldable displays cause, Huawei is using state of the art silicon anode batteries with capacities starting from 6000 mAh. Manufacturers have estimated a starting price for these devices at around $1472.
The new foldables will be powered by the Kirin 9050 flagship processor which is currently under preparation. A base version and a Pro version will be available, and the latter version should be implemented in the high end Mate XT2. Rumors point to a unique 2 layer vertical logic architecture. This arrangement levels up silicon layers, improving computational power and power efficiency without shrinking the semiconductor node.
The Mate XT2 will hit the shelves with HarmonyOS 7 onboard. According to Huawei, the tri fold device will come in four different themes including Blue Black, Auspicious Red, Crimson Purple, and Bright White. This range of options along with the innovative form factor paves the way for the device to be seen as a tool for work and play as well as a premium design piece.
