Lenovo announced an expansion of its dedicated gaming hardware family with the introduction of a new portable device called the Legion C700. Promotional materials indicate the handheld is being developed in partnership with Tencent START. The hardware is designed with a specific focus on running cloud streaming gaming services rather than relying on heavy local processing.
The initial design images showcase the device in a clean white chassis with an asymmetrical control layout heavily reminiscent of traditional Xbox controllers. The front of the handheld features 2 analog sticks positioned offset from one another alongside 1 directional pad and a standard set of 4 face buttons. Shoulder triggers are positioned at the top of the frame to manage primary input functions during gameplay.
The rear of the plastic shell includes extra programmable buttons for advanced configuration alongside a prominent ventilation grille to manage internal temperatures. The bottom edge of the device provides standard connectivity options including 1 USB Type C port for charging and data transfer alongside 1 headphone jack measuring 3.5 mm and 1 memory card slot to expand storage capacity.
Lenovo has kept specific technical details regarding the internal hardware architecture quiet for the time being. The processor, memory capacity, and battery size remain undisclosed. A comprehensive product presentation that will reveal the final hardware specifications and market pricing is scheduled to take place in late summer. This device represents a growing trend of hardware manufacturers creating dedicated thin client portables aimed at streaming services rather than high cost mobile components.
