Minisforum has expanded its hardware lineup with the release of the MS 03, a compact workstation designed specifically for running complex artificial intelligence models locally without an active internet connection. According to official Minisforum hardware documentation, this compact computer combines a high performance silicon architecture with extensive storage capacity to handle large scale neural networks in a compact chassis footprint.
The core of the Minisforum MS 03 is a 16 core Intel Core Ultra 9 386H Panther Lake processor. This chip is equipped with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit that generates 50 TOPS of computational power, while the integrated graphics engine provides an additional 40 TOPS. This combined 90 TOPS capability allows the system to process the Gemma model with up to 26,000,000,000 parameters at a processing speed of 22.05 tokens per second. This local execution capability ensures data privacy and eliminates cloud subscription costs for developers.
System memory is highly expandable through 2 SO DIMM slots that support up to 128GB of DDR5 7200 RAM. For storage, the motherboard features 3 M.2 slots, divided into 2 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 1 PCIe 4.0 lane. Minisforum also packages the computer with an M.2 to U.2 adapter, allowing professionals to install server grade solid state drives with capacities up to 15TB. The physical dimensions of the chassis measure 196 by 189 by 48 millimeters, making it a highly dense computing solution.
Managing the thermal output of the high performance processor is a cooling system that consists of 1 fan and a heatsink equipped with 3 copper heat pipes. Under a balanced operational profile, the system maintains a maximum TDP of 80W while keeping fan noise levels at or below 38 decibels. Additionally, the motherboard features an open PCIe 4.0 x4 slot designed to accommodate low profile slot powered discrete graphics cards or half height expansion cards without requiring external power connectors.
Networking capabilities are robust, featuring 2 SFP ports supporting 10 Gbps speeds managed by an Intel X710 controller. Wired connectivity is completed by 2 standard RJ45 Ethernet ports running at 10 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps respectively. The physical interface array also includes 2 USB 4 Type C ports with DisplayPort 2.1 alternate mode support, 1 HDMI 2.1 port, and 4 USB Type A ports. Wireless networking is handled by an integrated module supporting Wi Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 protocols.
The Minisforum MS 03 complies with the Intel vPro platform standards, granting IT administrators access to advanced remote management features. This enterprise grade support enables remote monitoring, system reconfigurations, and emergency reboots over a network. Global pre orders are scheduled to begin late this month, though official pricing structures have not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer.
