Motorola is targeting the heavy gaming market with its newly unveiled hardware. The company recently revealed the Edge 70 Max, a device built to handle demanding software and intense mobile gaming sessions. According to local launch details in India, the smartphone combines top tier processing power with advanced thermal management.
The phone runs on the 3 nanometer Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform which clocks up to 3.8 GHz. Motorola claims this silicon pushes past 3.2 million points in the AnTuTu benchmark. To prevent thermal throttling, the phone uses a thermal management system named ArcticMesh. This setup incorporates a 5500 square millimeter vapor chamber alongside additional heat dispersing materials measuring 29,550 square millimeters. For memory and storage, buyers can choose between 8 or 12 gigabytes of LPDDR5X RAM combined with UFS 4.1 flash storage capacity of 256 gigabytes.
The display is a flat 6.8 inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1440x3168 pixels. Gamers will appreciate the adaptive refresh rate that scales up to 144 Hz alongside a 360 Hz touch sampling rate. The screen can reach a peak brightness of 7000 nits. Color accuracy is verified by Pantone, which includes calibration for lifelike skin tones. The panel also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content.
Battery capacity is a massive 7100 mAh. This large cell supports 90W TurboPower wired charging, which can fill the battery to 50% in 21 minutes. Wireless charging uses the Qi 2.2 magnetic standard at 25W, making it fully compatible with MagSafe magnetic accessories. A full wireless charge cycle takes 86 minutes. The device also supports 5W reverse wired charging to power up smaller accessories in a pinch.
For photography, the rear array uses a 50 megapixel Sony LYTIA 710 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. An 8 megapixel ultrawide lens with autofocus handles wide shots and macro photography. The front display houses a 32 megapixel camera. Video recording caps out at 4K resolution at 60 frames per second on the main camera, while the selfie camera records at 30 frames per second.
Software features are heavily integrated with Motorola Qira, an artificial intelligence assistant. A feature called Catch Me Up provides quick summaries of notifications from your connected devices. Another tool called Recall lets users search through chat histories and screenshots using simple text queries. In the Creator Zone, users can generate images from text prompts or sketches, create custom avatars, and modify visual styles. The phone runs Android 16 with the Hello UX interface, and Motorola promises 3 major operating system upgrades alongside 5 years of security updates.
Physical durability is certified with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings against water and dust ingress. The phone measures 8.29 millimeters in thickness and weighs 221 grams. Prices in India start at 54,999 rupees, which is about 572 dollars, for the 8 gigabyte model. The 12 gigabyte version retails for 59,999 rupees, or roughly 624 dollars. International launch details have not been announced yet.
