The upcoming Moto Pad 70 Groove packs a massive JBL speaker array with 9 drivers built directly into the back. Teased on the Indian online store Flipkart, the new Motorola tablet is set to go into direct competition with the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2. However, this heavy focus on sound means buyers will have to carry a much thicker and heavier device.
The audio hardware is the defining feature of this tablet. Designed in partnership with the audio experts at JBL, the rear speaker housing contains 4 tweeters, 3 woofers, and 2 passive radiators. This configuration allows the device to function as a standalone Bluetooth speaker, offering support for Hi Res Audio Wireless. To make the device easier to use on a table, Motorola integrated a folding metal ring kickstand into the back alongside physical volume adjustment buttons. Motorola has not officially released the specifications yet
All of those speakers require physical space, making this tablet noticebly bulkier than standard mobile screens. The chassis reportedly measures 22.7 millimeters in thickness and weighs 760 grams, which might make it tiring to hold for long periods. Other expected features include a 13 megapixel main camera, an 8 megapixel front camera, a microSD card reader, and support for a stylus. Flipkart has already published the promotional page, with a full commercial launch expected to take place later this month.
