One More Level Expresses Interest in Ghostrunner 3 But Awaits Publisher Approval

Ghostrunner Developers Express Interest in Franchise Future While Navigating IP Rights and the Imminent Release of Valor Mortis

The development team behind the Ghostrunner franchise is eager to return to the series for a potential trilogy conclusion or a spin off, according to an interview published by Insider Gaming. However, the studio lacks the legal authority to greenlight the project. Szymon Bryla, the head of the development studio One More Level, clarified that the intellectual property rights belong entirely to the publisher, 505 Games, making them the sole decision makers for a 3rd installment.

One More Leve current effort is absorbed in the imminent release of Valor Mortis, a souls like shooter featuring a soldier within the Napoleonic army. Bryla revealed that the likelihood of continuing the Ghostrunner intellectual property is directly associated with the market performance of the upcoming title. Should Valor Mortis achieve significant commercial success, the team will probably concentrate on expanding the new franchise. On the other hand, a smaller commercial outcome for the Napoleonic based shooter may raise the chances of the developer going back to their previous established franchise.

Bryla assured that the content team has already come up with narrative ideas to wrap up or scale down the franchise. In his talk with Insider Gaming, he explained the studio's readiness to re engage with the brand if the publisher backs it up.

The game established itself in the business with the first Ghostrunner and the Ghostrunner 2 edition. However, the follow up was affected by some trouble in the market. Considering that the second Ghostrunner game could not replicate the same stand still momentum of its predecessor, 505 Games would probably take a more cautious approach in assessing the financial attractiveness of a 3rd iteration. The developer One More Level must conclude Valor Mortis and reinforce a new genre until the publisher formalizes their resolution accordingly.
