Ilya Sutskever’s Safe Superintelligence Inc has formed a long term strategic partnership with NVIDIA to accelerate its research growth. The agreement grants the artificial intelligence startup access to the next generation Vera Rubin computing platform, boosting its processing power by 10 times. While NVIDIA has also made a direct financial investment in the startup, the exact monetary terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
For the past 2 years, the startup has quietly pursued a new research path aimed at building safely aligned superintelligence. NVIDIA chose to back the firm after gaining a rare look into its private research. The 2 companies will also work together to improve future NVIDIA computing hardware by sharing direct feedback from the startup's engineering workloads.
NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang praised the startup's leadership, stating that they are excited to see what new breakthroughs will be discovered using the new computer hardware. Sutskever welcomed the massive hardware injection, pointing to the need for larger systems to advance their current work.
We have research that is worthy of scaling up, and having access to a big NVIDIA computer will let us do so.
This collaboration marks the initial major alliance for the startup since its public launch.
