TCL has introduced the Thunderbird 34U8A, a curved gaming monitor featuring a high speed mini LED display. The 34 inch screen pairs a 200 Hz refresh rate with a bright 1200 nit peak output to satisfy demanding players. It is set to launch in China later this week for 458 dollars.
The foundation of the monitor is a curved HVA panel with a 3440x1440p resolution and a 1500R curvature radius. This curved design wraps around the field of view of the user to increase immersion. Under the hood, the mini LED backlight features 1188 local dimming zones, achieving a 4000 to 1 static contrast ratio. Fast action looks sharp thanks to a 1 ms GtG response time that limits motion blur.
Color accuracy is a major strength for this display. The monitor comes factory calibrated with a Delta E rating under 2, covering 98% of the P3 color space and 99% of the standard sRGB gamut. To prevent screen tearing during intense gameplay, the screen supports both AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G Sync Compatible software. This ensures a smooth visual experience even when frame rates fluctuate.
Physical connections are plentiful. The monitor includes HDMI 2.1 TMDS, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB Type C port that delivers 90W of power to connected devices. Audio needs are handled by a standard 3.5 mm output jack or the integrated pair of 3W speakers. For physical comfort, the included desktop stand lets you adjust the height, tilt, and swivel of the monitor to find the ideal viewing angle.
