Another unfinished video game promised to receive post release updates has been abandoned. OtherSide Entertainment confirmed that active development for Thick as Thieves has ceased, leaving the multiplayer title in its current state. The studio cited severe staff shortages as the reason they can no longer maintain the project.
The developer explained to players that building new game modes, systems, and balance updates is no longer possible. A massive loss of staff members crippled the development team. While the studio plans to implement a peer to peer connection option for cooperative play, the core gameplay loop will remain untouched. Future support will transition to the publisher, Megabit, though major adjustments are highly unlikely.
Thick as Thieves suffered a poor financial launch, which complicates any long term recovery plans. Publishers rarely invest significant resources into projects that fail to generate revenue, especially after the original design team has departed. For players who purchased the game under the promise of future content, this sudden halt represents yet another cautionary tale of modern early access development.
