Unitree has released a promotional video showing its G1 humanoid robot performing various household chores. The machine can clear laundry, open drawers to retrieve medicine, and load dishes into a dishwasher using an onboard neural network. But the company warns that these abilities are currently limited to laboratory testing environments.
The newly published footage demonstrates the robot executing several household tasks on command. It picks up a cushion from the floor and places it on a chair, clears a bed of clothes, and deposits them into a laundry basket. It also opens a desk drawer to find a blue box of pills and transfers a dirty plate from a sink into a dishwasher. In another scene, the robot adjusts the height of a hospital bed.
An AI model named UnifoLM OminiA 0.3 powers the communication and task execution for the robot. Developed specifically for domestic care chores, the system runs locally on the hardware without requiring an active internet connection. This offline capability allows the G1 robot to process voice requests and interact with users even in noisy or distracting environments.
While the video displays impressive household agility, the developers issued a note of caution. These demonstrations occurred under controlled testing conditions, meaning that retail versions of the robot do not yet support all of these features out of the box. For now, the footage serves as a glimpse into the future of automated domestic assistance rather than a commercially ready product.
