Xbox and Ubisoft have expanded their partnership with 2 major digital updates launching today. PC players can now access premium editions and add on content for several major Ubisoft titles through the Xbox app. The update also includes a free cross ownership program that grants PC copies of select games to Xbox console owners.
The standout feature of this announcement is the new console to PC offer. Owners of eligible digital Xbox games can claim the PC version via the Ubisoft Connect platform at no extra charge. This includes popular releases like Assassin's Creed Mirage, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, Far Cry 6, and Skull and Bones. Eligible catalog titles like The Crew 2 and Tom Clancys Rainbow Six Siege are also part of this digital crossbuy initiative.
The license transfer operates as a 1 way street. Owning the console version unlocks the PC copy, but owning the PC version does not grant access to a console copy. New buyers will immediately receive licenses for both platforms. For existing game owners, Ubisoft is delivering the PC access through a gradual rollout that will finish within the next week. Users need to update the Ubisoft Connect client to see the newly unlocked software in their library.
Purchased expansions and downloadable content will also carry over for most of the selected titles. The only exceptions are in game currencies and other consumable digital purchases, which will remain locked to the original platform. For games featuring cross progression, players will find their save states and unlocks waiting for them when they switch platforms. This ensures that progress is preserved without forcing players to start from scratch.
