Xiaomi REDMI K90 Ultra Debuts with Active Physical Cooling Snapdragon 8 Elite Processing Power and Massive 8550 mAh Battery for Pro Gaming Performance
Xiaomi has announced the REDMI K90 Ultra to join its expanding suite of gaming focused smartphones in China. According to official launch releases, this dedicated gaming device aims to appeal specifically to mobile gamers by combining premium top tier processing hardware with an active physical cooling fan. This active thermal management hardware lowers the core temperatures of the device to allow for uninterrupted high power gaming sessions while maintaining an ultra competitive retail price point.
The processing hardware of the REDMI K90 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform. It is paired with a secondary D2 graphics card processor designed to uniquely optimize mobile specific frame rate performance. Users can equip the device with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.1 high speed storage. To manage extreme heat levels, Xiaomi integrated a tiny physical cooling fan internally.
This active cooler pulls heat away from the computational hardware, lowering both CPU and GPU core operating temperatures by as much as 10 degrees while maintaining a silent profile that does not exceed 32 dB. Despite the physical ventilation ports built into the aerospace grade outer casing, the phone earned official IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings.
Graphics output is managed by a 6.83 inch AMOLED panel with a 2772x1280 pixel resolution. It offers a rapid refresh rate of up to 165Hz and reaches a peak brightness of 3500 nits. Gamers also benefit from a 3500Hz immediate touch sampling rate for zero input lag. Additionally, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support are provided for true cinema like contrast and coloring.
An enormous 8550 mAh battery provides the energy supply demanded by the high end 3500 nits display and active cooling system. It offers 100 W wired fast charging and 22.5 W wired reverse charging to supply power for external digital accessories. To prevent battery degradation during long gaming sessions, the device incorporates a bypass charging mode. This feature distributes power directly to the mainboard rather than the battery cell, significantly reducing heat generation and chemical wear.
The main camera system features a 50 MP Light Fusion 800 module with optical image stabilization, joined by an 8 MP ultrawide sensor. Video recording is supported at up to 8K resolutions. Audio is handled by balanced stereo speakers with Bose tuning, while haptic feedback is managed by an advanced X axis linear motor. Other technical specifications include Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, an always on NFC infrared blaster, and an in screen ultrasonic finger sensor.
The REDMI K90 Ultra is available on the Chinese market today with multiple hardware configurations. The entry level 12 GB RAM and 256 GB model is listed at 2999 Yuan, which equates to roughly $441 US dollars. The higher end 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage version is listed at 3699 Yuan, or approximately $545 US dollars.
