Huawei has announced the FreeBuds 7, bringing NearLink wireless audio and upgraded active noise cancellation to a lightweight semi in ear form factor. Revealed by Huawei consumer business head He Gang, the earbuds weigh just 4.3g and support high speed 16Mbps data transfers for lossless sound. The new audio accessory is set for an official release next month.
The core technical upgrade centers on wireless transmission speed. The FreeBuds 7 recently passed certification through the NearLink alliance, adopting the NearLink E2.0 standard for audio hardware. This protocol pushes physical layer transfer speeds up to 16Mbps. That extra bandwidth allows the earbuds to stream 24 bit 48kHz lossless audio tracks without the compression compromises common in older wireless setups.
Pulling off effective noise cancellation on open fit earbuds has always been a tough engineering challenge. Huawei claims to have re engineered the cancellation algorithms on this model to cut down ambient rumble in loud spaces like subway trains and airplane cabins. Comfort remains a central focus. Each earpiece weighs 4.3g to minimize ear fatigue during extended listening sessions. Buyers can choose from 4 color finishes, including Sunlight Orange, Midsummer Purple, Moonlight White, and Starry Night Black.
Huawei plans to share final retail pricing and market availability during its scheduled September launch event. The focus will be on how well the high bandwidth NearLink audio performs when paired with the newest generation of mobile devices.
