HUAWEI Mate XT 2 Adopts Inward Folding Design in Official Renders

Huawei has released official renders for the Mate XT 2 revealing a completely redesigned tri fold smartphone. The device abandons the previous Z shape design for an inward folding U shape mechanism keeping the main flexible display protected while adding a standard tempered glass cover screen. While the physical changes are confirmed consumers must wait for an upcoming presentation to learn official pricing and availability details.

The new folding mechanism is the biggest hardware shift. Older tri fold models left part of the soft inner screen exposed to the elements in your pocket. Huawei solved this by folding the entire main display inward. A dedicated outer screen now handles quick tasks. This outer panel uses standard tempered glass for better scratch resistance against keys and coins. Official renders show a large octagonal camera block on the back. Up front a wide pill shaped cutout hints at 3D facial recognition hardware.

Internal specifications are coming into focus ahead of the launch. Industry leaks point to the Kirin 9030S chipset powering the device. This is the exact same silicon found inside the Pura 90 Pro and Pura 90 Pro Max. Some buyers expected the newer Kirin 9050 but Huawei appears to be sticking with proven architecture for this release. The operating system will be HarmonyOS 7. The software reportedly includes built in biometric health tracking. Users might be able to measure their heart rate directly through the phone without needing external smartwatches. Huawei is expected to formally debut the device alongside the Mate X8 series soon.
