LG Electronics has launched its latest wireless wallpaper television in the British luxury market. The LG SIGNATURE OLED W6 measures just 0.9 centimeters thick and transmits lossless 4K images at a 165Hz refresh rate without any cables. However, the premium display is currently limited to high luxury venues like Harrods in London as LG targets affluent consumers.
The design of the television achieves its wallpaper look by thinning down the power boards, internal speakers, and chassis hardware. According to reports from the Seoul Economic Daily today, this allows the screen to sit flush against the wall with a profile similar to a standard pencil. External media players connect to a separate Zero Connect Box, which is 35% smaller than previous models. This design choice reduces living room clutter by eliminating the need to run multiple cables directly to the screen itself.
The wireless capabilities of the system mark a major step in display engineering. It is the first television to receive the True Wireless Lossless Vision certification from the German testing group TÜV Rheinland. The certification guarantees that the system can transmit 4K resolution at 165Hz without any loss of picture quality or transmission latency. Users can place their media boxes across the room while the display receives the feed cleanly through the air.
Internal processing relies on the new Alpha 11 4K Gen3 AI audio and video processor. The updated neural processing unit boasts a performance increase of 5.6 times compared to the previous generation, which helps stabilize fast moving images. Graphics processing sees a 70% increase to make on screen images look more natural with realistic 3D depth. To combat glare in bright living rooms, the screen uses an ultra low reflection display layer that cuts reflection in half compared to older models while maintaining deep black levels and accurate color.
