Nvidia is investing up to $3 billion in energy infrastructure developer Lancium. The Texas developer builds electricity connections for the massive Stargate artificial intelligence data center campus. The initial $2 billion funding block secures a 20% stake for the chip designer as the developer eyes a future public offering.
According to reports from The Information, the deal could grow by another $1 billion if the developer meets specific grid connection milestones. Blackstone Group also backs the energy company. This transaction values Lancium at approximately $10 billion when counting its land assets and utility connections. The capital infusion is intended to help scale operations rapidly before a public stock market debut planned for 2027.
The Stargate data center initiative is a joint venture linking SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle. President Trump announced the project earlier this year, stating the involved corporations would spend up to $500 billion on artificial intelligence infrastructure. Lancium owns a 1,000 acre clean campus in Abilene, Texas. This site serves as the first active base for the massive cloud computing project.
