Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a Launch With AI Noise Cancellation and Gemini Features

Google has unveiled the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a alongside its latest Pixel 11 smartphones today. The new wireless earbuds prioritize intelligent software upgrades over major hardware changes, bringing hands free tools later this year. Orders open today, with the first wave of software features arriving next month.

Earbuds often lose their tight seal after you wear them for a while. Google resolved this issue by introducing an adaptive noise cancellation system that continuously monitors the physical fit inside your ear. If the earbud slips slightly, the software immediately alters the active noise suppression to compensate. This adaptive processing builds on an acoustic setup that already blocks up to 2 times more noise than the original model.

Gemini plays a much larger role in earbud operation now. You can adjust your audio settings using simple voice commands, meaning you can ask the assistant to boost the bass without reaching for your phone. Sleep tracking also gets a boost if you own a Pixel Watch. When the wearable detects that you have fallen asleep, it automatically pauses your music, disables earbud touch controls, and silences all incoming notifications.

Live Translation has received a massive boost. By tapping your earbud, you can trigger a dedicated listening mode that translates more than 70 languages in near real time. If you need to respond, you can speak directly into the microphone. Your Pixel phone will then broadcast the translated answer through its main speaker, making foreign conversations much easier to manage.

The actual physical hardware remains familiar. Google made the new Pro model 27% smaller and 24% lighter than its predecessor. The interior relies on a Tensor A1 audio chip and uses a physical design tweak to ensure a more secure fit. You can choose from several colors, including a new Olive option, with pre orders starting immediately as the first software shipments prepare to launch next month.
